Agility Studio was founded by Julia Rabe, a qualified Physiotherapist, who discovered the health benefits of the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® exercise methods during a quest to find a gentle form of exercise after surgery. She then made it her mission to share the benefits with others.

Kim Tucker was introduced to the GYROTONIS EXPANSION SYSTEM® whilst working and studying the Pure Classical Pilates Method. After completing her Pure Classical Pilates certification she decided to further her education with the GYROTONIC® Method.

Daniela Di Lorenzo is a professional ballet dancer who discovered GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® after suffering a severe injury. Thanks to the GYROTONIC® system, she returned to dancing pain free. She employs GYROTONIC® methodology with particular focus on its powerful rehabilitative benefits in her dance practice and coaching.

We believe each person is unique and has the right to move with fluidity and freedom from pain. Our approach is to integrate the priciples of the GYROTONIC®  and GYROKINESIS® methods.

What to expect

Using the natural spherical and spiraling movements patterns of your body, you will learn to decompress and strengthen your entire spine.

Progressively challenging exercise modules promote multi-directional and circular movement, thereby increasing your spinal column’s functional ability, with the aim of making you less vulnerable to injuries, stress and micro-traumas.

Learning to breathe correctly during the exercises, aids your body in releasing blocked energy and oxygenating all the muscles.

As these exercises are done without compression, due to the use of custom designed equipment, the body achieves extraordinary flexibility and capability.

Julia Rabe

Founder and Teacher

Julia immigrated to South Africa from Germany where she started working at the Groote Schuur Hospital. As a qualified Physiotherapist she continued to broaden her knowledge of the body by taking courses in sports science, dry needling as well as back, neck and neuro rehabilitation.

She first learned about GYROTONIC® and  GYROKINESIS® after her friend, Shari Rosenberg, suggested she try it to provide relief for her persistent neck pain.  After a few classes, Julia started to notice not only the physical benefits but the pain in her neck went away too.

As a Breast Cancer survivor and Reach for Recovery volunteer, she has a particularly soft spot for woman fighting their cancer. Oftentimes after surgery, movement is limited. These two movement methods have helped many women regain their mobility and positive attitude.

Anyone can get something from GYROTONIC® and  GYROKINESIS®. Whether it is someone looking for some exercise, a professional athlete who wants to achieve better performance or a post-op patient looking to regain mobility, strength or be relieved of their pain, the Agility Studio will be able to cater to all of your needs.

Julia aims to bring joy back into movement by sharing her knowledge of the body and mind. Agility Studio is where you will find the perfect ‘science of movement.’

Kim Tucker

Teacher

Kim was introduced to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® whilst working and studding the Pure Classical Pilates Method. After completing her Pure Classical Pilates certification she decided to further her education with GYROTONIC®.

“As I practiced this methodology through the use of the specialized GYROTONIC® equipment, I felt more agile and stronger and old injuries began to improve and strengthen, this motivated me to continue,” Says Kim. Through this newfound freedom of movement and agility she decided to further her studies of the system and its principles.

“My passion and enthusiasm for the methodology gave me belief in the works as this movement therapy started to improve and change my body. After a GYROTONIC® session, I felt much looser and freer than from any other type of exercise I had tried. It stretched my spine and strengthened my body in ways other exercises failed to achieve.”
